I'm interested in best way to backup/export data/site in the event I need to restore everthing. I have friends with similar sites,  whose hosting company have  lost everything.  I would would like to keep a weekly backup  of site/ database if possible?

hbarile,

We can recommend you some steps:
1. Make a database dump using PHPMyAdmin. It will save the dump on your local PC.
2. If you have SSH - launch an archiver "tar". It will create an archive of your site at your server and afterwards you need to copy this archive to your PC.
   If you have FTP - copy the entire site to your local PC and create an archive.
