When creating a new theme in v.4 I get the following message when I try to access the home page:

Fatal error: Smarty error: the $compile_dir 'system/cache/smarty/user/test' does not exist, or is not a directory. in /system/ext/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Is it just me or has anyone else experienced this?

Here is a workaround that seems to work until a permanent solution comes out. I'm using Dreamweaver8 to do this but you'll get the idea. Apparently a directory needs to be created:

1) After you create your new theme, on your server locate /system/cache/smarty/user
2) You'll see several folders. You need to have one for your new theme or you'll get the 'Fatal Error' message.
3) Just create a new folder with the same name as your theme.

Whether or not this is the right thing to do I can't say as yet, but it does seem to solve the problem at least initially. If you don't see your changes right away try clearing your browser cache. Comments/additional suggestions are strongly encouraged!!
