Hi

I don't have any pre v4 experience with iAuto but I saw that the idea of Listing Type is new to v4.

How does one actually use Listing Types? Are there any templates or functions etc that implement them?

Looking at the demo for example, how would you add a Listing Type drop down to the quick search block?

Thanks

Hi,

Listing type allows you to offer various types of vehicles on your iAuto web site (eg. cars, trucks, bikes and etc). You can set common or custom fields for each type (eg. price is a common filed for each type, while each type has it individual set of parameteres/fields, such as make and model list differs for cars and trucks). And you can also provide mixed search ability, where several listing types are displayed in search results.

All listing forms (input and search) and display (search results and details) are template driven. To add a search box for a listing type to any search form, you just need to modify search form template and add special smarty tag (  {search property="type"}  ) to the place where you want to display this box.

Hope I answered you question

Hi

I had tried that already but your system doesn't seem to know what to do with that property. If I use add template=list.tpl I get a drop down with only the word "Any" in it.
Thanks

Ex. from quicksearch.tpl

      <tr>
                   <td align="right">Type</td><td>{search property=type}</td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
         <td align="right">Make</td><td>{search property=MakeModel template=tree_level_1.tpl } Model
                                                                   {search property=MakeModel template=tree_level_2.tpl}
                        </td>
      </tr>

Hi,
I'm terribly sorry, but I was wrong. In a current version there is no way to add listing type select box to the search form without source code modification. We'll add this feature to our next release.
As for now, if this feature is important for you, and you need it immediately, we can add it to your installation free of charge.

Hi

Yes it's quite important.The problem is my system is not accessible to you.

Can you supply a patch?

Please find attached the patch, that allows adding listing type select box to the search forms. Just copy files from the patch to the same folder (we've kept folder hierarchy in the patch), so that they replaced old ones.

After that you should add {search property=listing_type} to your template.

This should work.
