I am having an issue getting past an error message when I try to upload an inventory listing.  In my file, there are cells with missing data - and I do not know how to compensate for that.

Here's a Print Screen of what I am facing:  http://allstarcarsales.com/img/error.gif

Do you have someone available to talk me through this?  I bought this program and I need to use it.

Thanks,

Don

Don,

It's not an error you are facing with, but an attempt for a system to clarify how to handle your data values for some fields. The first solution to your problem is to un-click the check boxes next to the fields in question to make these fields non-mandatory. In this case, the system won't brag about some values missing from non-mandatory fields.

The second option is to set the values for the data cells where data is missing. You can fill the empty fields with some values using the dialogs in the top left corner of the page that you are calling the error page. Either way is acceptable to resolve the issue you have encountered.

Thanks for the tips.  I am somewhat new to db management.  I'll try that tonight.

On another iissue, I am having trouble accessing the Admin Login page using my laptop.  I usually do my work at home on my desktop. The page appeared normally, at first, but then it advanced to a 404 Not Found page.  Now, I get the 404 Page when I try to go back to the Login Page.  Am I able to access that from another PC?

Okay, I am getting somewhere...

When I try to save the file, it does not recognize ANY new info, including stock numbers.  In fact, I have to manually click each radio button under "New Record" on every bit of information.  See:  http://allstarcarsales.com/img/record.gif   (I "saved" some numbers before this screenshot)

Am I supposed to have added some info/tables before I tried to upload my file?

I really need to get this working by the end of the year.

Thanks for your help...

Don,

It's a bit hard to understand what exactly are you doing in the system, what data fields you have set up in the system and what data you are trying to import, and we won't be able to help you on this one without access to your system and without looking at your file.

Here's what I would like to suggest to you. If the system itself doesn't work due to a bug, we will fix it for you free of charge and import the database if it can be imported. In case the system does work well and there's nothing gravely wrong with your file (the data can be brought to the importable shape and format), we'll tell you how to do it yourself (it's a lot easier than you think).

If this job takes a bit of our time (data fields are not ready, etc.), we'll offer you to purchase one month of support (if it's not part of your current package) and we'll help you resolve the issue. This will be a fair approach that may help you get your database imported before 2007. To make a determination, we'll have to look at your stuff first. Please email your access credentials to your admin interface, and your data file to support@iautosoftware.com as soon as practical, and we'll see what we can do for you.

Allright, your clue to configure data fields enabled me to successfully update my data file.  All I did was designated "TEXT" as the input requirement and everything went through okay.

Now, I have another question:  what is the URL for the front end user interface?  I want to place that in a shell for insertion into my site.

Thanks for all your help...and Merry Christmas!!!

Hi Don,

Glad everything worked out with your data import stuff. It's pretty straightforward and it normally requires a couple of tries to get everything right.

As for the front-end url, typically the default url of the software installation is the front-end url. It has a user login box or link that can also  be used to access user-only functions, if that's what you're trying to do. If not, could you please provide us with a specific description of what you are trying to achieve so that we can help you better.

Merry Christmas to you too and a Happy New Year! Grin

Well, it looks like I'm only able to find the Admin URL: http://donalex.web.aplus.net/iAuto-3.0.3/admin/ (the donalex.web is the database URL)

It's been so long since I successfully installed this software that I've lost touch with the front-end URL.

Your front-end url is http://donalex.web.aplus.net/iAuto-3.0.3/, at least that's where the package is installed and that's where it works at the moment.
