Hi,

Anyone reading this had a problem, now or in the past, with image uploading process?  My issue is that I am currently using a VPS (Vitual Private Server) for my site which is not live as yet.

Our server providers have spent a lot of time over the last 6 weeks in trying to solve an image upload problem.  Currently images less than 1MB in size (or combined total size of up to 1MB in the case of multiple images) upload efficiently and successfully.

If the 1MB 'limit' is exceeded, a fatal error is generated and the image(s) fails to upload.  "Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 17825792) (tried to allocate 2048 bytes)...."

The hosting company insist that this is somehow a GD compatibility issue.  They have tried our site in addition to it's current VPS on shared options and even dedicated but the problem persists.

I would love to hear from anyone who has had a similar issue and how they got it resolved.    Smiley

Looks like this issue exists only on their server environment.
Our server is also a VPS and I managed to upload a 1,39 MB image without any issues. Our hosting is HostForWeb.com.

Hi Lena,

That's interesting and quite heartening that another VPS choice works fine. Did you try uploading a few images of this size in one go?  Is Hostforweb a hosting company run by/for WFW (I ask because of the name similarity).  I will definitely consider a new hosting company.  I was trying to get one in my own country for SEO reasons as Google tends to associate businesses with the geographic location of their server. So if I were to go on a U.S. based server it is likely that search engines (in particular Google) will return my site on their U.S. results pages.  However I would rather be on a server in another country that works efficiently with my site rather that one in my own country that doesn't.
