In regards to the Membership Plans, is there a way to create a plan that does not show up on the registration menu as an option?

For instance: Lets say I want to have an average consumer go to my iAuto site and to sell his or her vehicle immediately. So they register and choose a Membership plan with the hopes of getting immediate activation via email in a few minutes.

When they do this they choose the Agent Plan which on my iAuto site would be FREE to the Agents because they advertise in my magazine. Obviously I want the consumer to choose my Monthly Plan for $19.99 and not the FREE Agent listing.

If I turn off the Agent FREE listing then the Agent goes to the Payment Screen after they post their cars or if they just hit save then I have to approve each listing they post.

If I turn off the "send new registered user activation email" then the user may not get an activation code immediately and would have to wait on me to approve them. I am not on the site at midnight so this may cause me to loose some visitors.

Thanks and sorry about the long post...Cheers!

Hi,

That's a very interesting issue you are asking about. I thought about it and a couple of different options on how to resolve it came to my mind. The two obvious ones (there are a few not so obvious ones like promo codes, etc.) - 1) separate dealers from regular sellers, and 2) creatively rename membership plans.

The first option requires additional programming. If you need us to give you a quote on that, we'll be happy to, but we'll need a detailed description of what specifically you need accomplished.

The second options is to creatively rename all membership plans. You may call the first one "Individual Sellers" and the other, "Current Autoguide Advertisers". The rationale for this option is simple. People need to sell their vehicles, therefore, their listings should be on the website for as long as needed to sell the car. There is no good reason for them to knowingly choose the wrong membership plan, post their ad just to see it disappear as soon as the admin wakes up and deletes the user with his/her listings.

It is well worth providing a good description of the membership plans on a separate page as well as giving the annotation of plans on the front page. This should guide visitors to choose appropriate plans with a very insignificant margin of error that is not too dramatic and easily correctable.

Well, that's my thinking. I may be wrong in getting your underlying concept, and in this case, I'll gladly hear you out. If there is an ideal individual vs. dealer segregation model you or other visitors may want to share with us, we can take it to implement it in our next software release. I encourage everyone to go ahead and post your ideas about this here.

Hey there IAS,
Thanks for the great advice. I think that I am going to implement the short logic here first but definitely would like to pursue the future programming development in the near future. I will get in contact with you about that sometime soon but first I need to finalize other data feed situations that I am having. I don't want to get too many requests up in the air at the same time...know what I mean? But definitely look forward to doing more business transactions with me. Thanks!
